4-Week

Pottery Journey

CLASS STRUCTURE

  • Classes take place at either our 1102 College St. or 988 Queen St. W. locations. Please make sure to check the address carefully before booking.
  • This course runs for four weeks, with one 3-hour session per week. The last 30 minutes of each session are dedicated to cleanup, because Muddy Magic still needs a tidy ending.
  • Throughout the program, you’ll work with a designated amount of clay and are free to create as many pieces as you can. But remember, it’s not a race, quality over quantity is what really matters!
  • Each week builds on the last, moving you through every essential step of the pottery-making process:
    • Week 1: Introduction to basic wheel throwing techniques. You’ll get your hands dirty (in the best way) and learn how to center, pull, and form basic shapes.
    • Week 2: We’ll continue throwing and learn how to trim your pieces, because every good pot deserves a good foot.
    • Week 3: More trimming plus an introduction to handbuilding techniques to expand your creative possibilities.
    • Week 4: Glazing day! You’ll explore studio glaze options and learn application techniques before your pieces head off for their final firing.
  • Our experienced instructors will guide each session, demonstrate techniques, and help you progress at your own pace.
  • If you miss a class, don’t worry, we’ll keep your pieces moving. Our team will complete any necessary steps so your work is ready for the next session. (But you’ll miss the fun, so we recommend showing up!)
  • All pieces will be bisque fired and glaze fired by our team. You’ll receive an email notification once everything is ready for pickup, usually within 4-5 weeks after the course ends.
Please note: Make-up classes are not guaranteed. If space becomes available in another session, we may be able to accommodate a make-up class.
All make-up classes are subject to a $25 make-up class fee.
Please note: Pottery is a beautifully unpredictable craft. Sometimes the kiln gods are kind… sometimes they’re not. Zei Pottery Studios cannot be held responsible for cracks, warping, glaze surprises, or other unexpected outcomes that happen during firing. But don’t worry, your instructor will help you choose the pieces most likely to survive the adventure.
