5. Studio rules and safety

- No food in the studio. Non-alcoholic drinks are welcome.
- Clean your wheel, tools and work area at the end of each session.
- Clay and glaze materials are for use in the studio only.
- Any glaze brought into the studio must be approved by us first. Class students should send us a photo of the glaze label and place a clay “cookie” under the piece for the glaze firing.
6. Your pieces: firing and pickup
Firing and finishing
Our team trims (where included), glazes and fires class pieces. Pottery is an unpredictable craft: cracks, warping, glaze variations and other surprises can happen in the kiln. We do our best with every piece, but we cannot guarantee results and we are not responsible for pieces lost or damaged during drying or firing.
How many pieces
- 1-day classes and events: one finished piece is included. Additional pieces can be finished for an extra piece fee.
- Multi-week courses: the number of finished pieces depends on what you make and the techniques you use.
When your pieces are ready
- 1-day classes and events: usually 3–4 weeks after the class.
- Weekly courses: usually 1–2 weeks after each piece is finished.
We will email you when your pieces are ready.
Pickup: please collect your pieces within 2 months of our “ready for pickup” email. We can't store pieces longer than that. After 2 months, unclaimed pieces will be donated without further notice.
Please label your work as your instructor shows you. We are not responsible for pieces that are unlabelled, mislabelled or left past the pickup window.
7. Studio membership
- Memberships give 24/7 studio access and are for the named member only.
- Members must follow all studio rules, firing guidelines and glaze approvals.
- Billing and notice periods are explained in our Refund Policy.
- We may suspend or end a membership for repeated or serious breaches of these terms.
8. Photography and media
We may take photos and videos during classes and events, including of students and their work, and share them on our website and social media such as Instagram. By attending, you agree to this. If you would rather not be photographed, just let your instructor know at the start of class.
9. Health, assumption of risk and release
Pottery involves physical activity, spinning equipment, sharp tools, heavy materials, dust and hot surfaces. By taking part you confirm that you are fit to do so, that you will follow all safety instructions, and that you will tell us about any medical condition or allergy that could affect your participation.
You take part voluntarily and at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Zei Pottery Studios Inc., its owners, staff and instructors from claims for injury, loss or damage arising from your participation, except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. You are responsible for your personal belongings while in the studio.
10. Code of conduct
We want our studios to be welcoming and safe for everyone. Harassment, discrimination, disrespectful or unsafe behaviour toward students or staff will not be tolerated. We may ask anyone who breaks this rule to leave, without a refund.
11. Damage to studio property
Please treat our equipment with care. You may be asked to pay for damage caused by misuse, carelessness or ignoring instructions. Normal wear and tear is not included.
12. Gift cards
- Gift cards can be used for any class, membership, private event or ceramics purchase.
- Gift cards do not expire.
- Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded.
- Please keep your gift card code safe. We are not responsible for lost or stolen codes.
13. Use of our website
- All content on zeipottery.com, including text, photos, logos and designs, belongs to Zei Pottery or its licensors and may not be copied or used without our written permission.
- You agree not to misuse the website, including attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with its operation, or using automated tools to collect data.

14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zei Pottery is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from our classes, events, memberships or website. Our total liability for any claim related to a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows the current version. The terms in effect when you make a booking apply to that booking.
16. Governing law and general terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Not enforcing a term right away does not mean we waive it.
