  • Each week builds on the last, gently guiding kids through the full pottery process in a fun, hands-on way. The focus is on creativity, confidence, and learning by doing:

    • Week 1:  Wheel Throwing BasicsWe start by getting comfortable with the pottery wheel. Kids learn how to center clay, control the wheel, and shape simple forms like bowls. The goal is to build coordination, patience, and confidence while having fun getting their hands dirty.
    • Week 2:Trimming & Handbuilding
This week is all about refining and exploring. Students trim the pieces they made earlier, learning how to give their pots a clean and stable foot. Then we shift to handbuilding, where they create small plate projects using shapes and templates. This helps them understand form, proportion, and texture beyond the wheel.
    • Week 3:Handbuilding Project: Ceramic House
Kids work on a larger creative project using slab and coil techniques to build a ceramic house. They design both the structure and the details, adding personal elements like furniture, decorations, or small objects. This week encourages imagination, planning, and problem-solving.
    • Week 4:Painting & Glazing
In the final week, all pieces are painted using colourful underglazes and then finished with a transparent glaze. Kids also experiment with a special-effect glaze on a test tile. This session brings everything together and teaches how raw clay turns into a finished ceramic piece.
