Clay Intensive

CLASS STRUCTURE

• This course runs over two weeks, with one 3-hour class each week. The final 30 minutes of each session are reserved for studio cleanup.
• In the first class, students are introduced to fundamental wheel throwing techniques. With the guidance of an experienced instructor, participants will explore shaping various forms on the wheel. There is no production limit—you’re free to throw as much clay as you can handle!
• The second class focuses on trimming your selected pieces directly on the wheel. After trimming, you’ll explore surface decoration and basic coloring methods.
• Once the decorating is done, students will also try out simple handbuilding techniques at the table—yes, we like to keep your creativity well-rounded.
• All pieces will be bisque fired, glazed by the instructor, and then glaze fired.
• Finished work will be ready for pickup approximately four weeks after the final class. We’ll notify you by email once everything is out of the kiln and ready to go.

Please note: There are NO make-up classes. Missed sessions cannot be rescheduled or refunded under any circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.

Please note: Pottery is a beautifully unpredictable craft. Sometimes the kiln gods are kind… sometimes they’re not. Zei Pottery Studio cannot be held responsible for cracks, warping, glaze surprises, or other unexpected outcomes that happen during firing. But don’t worry—your instructor will help you choose the pieces most likely to survive the adventure.
