Zei Pottery Studio’s membership program is designed for independent ceramicists who wish to use the studio outside of scheduled class hours. This is a self-directed system for confident makers who enjoy working at their own pace in a respectful shared space.
Membership is open to individuals aged 18 and over. You must read and agree to the studio policies prior to applying.
Interested makers are welcome to book a visit and tour the studio before applying.
Members have 24/7 access to the studio, excluding scheduled class times. Class schedules are posted regularly. Please plan your work around those times.
For safety reasons, the door must be locked while using the studio alone.
Membership is offered in 8-week terms and costs 599 CAD+HST per term (approx. 299 CAD+HST per month). Payment is made in 8-week blocks.
Studio glazes are available for unlimited use. Please do not alter glaze buckets or mix in outside materials. Always ensure the bottoms of your pieces are clean—glaze on the base means no firing. All work must be clearly labelled with your initials before going on the firing shelf.
Only clay provided by Zei Pottery Studio may be used. Outside clay or glaze is strictly prohibited, to ensure safety and kiln compatibility.
Clay is available for purchase in 10kg bags at $20 each, and can be purchased when needed. Most members find one bag lasts longer than expected—unless you’re building a castle.
The kiln may not be touched by members. For safety and consistency, only studio technicians and instructors may handle kiln loading and firing.
Pieces exceeding 12 inches in any direction or needing urgent turnaround may be fired at the discretion of staff, and may incur an extra firing fee depending on space and timing.
Each member receives one personal shelf. Additional storage may be available monthly if needed. Please remove your finished pieces weekly to avoid congestion. Items left for over 4 weeks may be removed at the studio’s discretion.
Membership is billed in 8-week blocks. If you wish to cancel, you must provide at least one month’s notice. After cancellation, returning members will be added to the waitlist and accepted as space becomes available.
Zei Pottery Studio is a shared creative space. Please respect other members, clean up after yourself, and do not touch other people’s work. Eating is not permitted in shared studio areas—let’s keep the snacks out of the splash pans.
Zei Pottery Studio also reserves the right to not renew any membership at its sole discretion and without providing a reason, in order to protect the integrity and atmosphere of the studio.
Failure to follow studio policies may result in the termination of your membership.
Membership applications are not accepted automatically. To apply, please email us at info@zeipottery.com with a short introduction and a description of your pottery experience.
Only applicants with sufficient experience will be contacted. We look forward to hearing from you!
